WHAT IS THIS ANYWAY?

The Dickens Project comes to Tacoma with a new twist on the classic holiday tale of transformation and redemption.

On Sunday, December 1st, beginning at 1pm, three voice performers will present Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol in a live performance of a text adapted and annotated by Dickens himself when he presented the story in person during his life, with some additional text from the full novella.  What is the twist?  Only one of the performers will be in Tacoma.  The other two will be coming to Tacoma through the virtual world of Second Life (c) and the interactive Dickens Project there.  Click here to learn more about it!

The Tacoma audience will be able to see the virtual Dickens Project on a big screen, joining a virtual audience from all over the world in experiencing the performance.  Virtual Storyteller Caledonia Skytower (Tacoma artist and author, Judith Cullen) will act as guide while performers and guests explore the virtual project as the performance is in progress.

Proceeds from both performances benefit worthy charities. In Tacoma, free will donations will be accepted with the proceeds benefiting My Sister's Pantry; in the virtual world The Dickens Project benefits War Child North America.

Stay tuned for previews and updates!
